Ghanaian teenager Seidu Bassit was on target four times for Accra Lions as they staged a strong last-gasp performance to dismiss Medeama 4-2 in the Ghana Premier League on Friday.
Bassit, 19, becomes the first player in the 2022/23 season to score more than 3 goals in a single game.
However, his Friday record puts him at par with ex-GPL goal king Yaw Annor who also set that record in the 2021/22 season with AshantiGold SC.
Incidentally, the game was also a matchday 27 fixture with the Ismaily forward scoring a second-half hattrick to add to a first-half strike.
Annor’s four-goal haul came against Berekum Chelsea at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi as the Miners won 5-1.
Bassit opened the scoring for Ibrahim Tanko’s side on the 9th-minute mark before doubling the lead 12 minutes before the break.
However, defender Vincent Atinga would repeat his performance in the reverse fixture in Tarkwa as he scored twice from the penalty spot in the second half to leave the tie 2-2 in the 61st minute.
With stoppage time only remaining Bassit scored in the 92nd minute before adding the 4th in the 99th minute to seal an act of revenge for the Lions.
