Supporters of former NPP flagbearer hopeful, Alan Kyeremanten, have described his resignation as a cowardly act and a betrayal of his loyal supporters across the country.
The supporters, including members of Mr. Kyeremanten’s campaign team in the recent Super Delegates Conference, expressed their disappointment his decision to quit the NPP and form a new party. Mr. Kyeremanteng on Monday, announced his resignation from the New Patriotic Party of which he is a founding member.
He claimed that, the party skewed the recently held super delegates conference in favour of a particular candidate, the creation of an unlevel playing ground and the intimidation of his supporters as some of the reasons for his resignation.
However, at a News Conference in Tamale, an administrator of Mr. Kyeremanten’s campaign team, Chabire Moses Moye, disclosed that, their support for Alan was due to his affiliation with the NPP.
He stressed that the team remains loyal to the NPP ahead of the 2024 elections. Mr. Chabire also declared the group’s support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is a flagbearer hopeful in the National Delegates Conference slated for November this year.
“Whether we like it or not, he is coming, and have to work for the party and we will work with him to make sure that, he wins,” he explained.
This is the second time Mr. Kyeremanten, a founding member of the NPP in 1992, is resigned from the NPP after losing an internal election.
His first resignation came in 2008 when he failed in his attempt to lead the NPP.
