Following Ghana’s 1-2 defeat to Cape Verde in their opener of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Black Stars defender, Alexander Djiku is confident of a win against Egypt in their next Group game on Thursday at the Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.

Despite being on the losing side Alexander Djiku was adjudged Man of the Match after an impressive display against the Cape Verdeans.

The defender registered his name on the score sheet for Ghana’s equalizer making it 1-1 after Majeed Ashimeru’s goal was earlier ruled out for offside.

He is optimistic the stars will bounce back in their subsequent outings.

“It’s a difficult way to start, but it’s not over yet, we need to win to move on,” Djiku said through a translator at the presser after the game.

Djiku also revealed “It’s a tough one, but nothing is impossible, we’ll keep pushing for a win”

“Conceding in the last minute is tough, but that’s football, if we win the next game, we can still qualify.”

Ghana is drawn in Group B with Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique.
