National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, has asked the staff and management of Despite Media as well as all Ghanaians to forgive the party for the behavior that some of its members exhibited last Saturday at the premises of United Television (UTV).
A group of individuals of the party thronged the studios of UTV disrupting their live entertainment programme for an hour.
But for the timely intervention of the Police who came to the scene, arresting some members of the gang and restoring calm, the situation would have been messier as it nearly erupted into chaos.
The NPP National Chairman, who personally visited Despite Media on Thursday, October 12, 2023, solidly assured Despite Media and all media organizations across the country that there will be no interferences from the party nor recurrence of such behavior by its members and supporters.
“This is not how the attitude of NPP is. Our tradition doesn’t permit these things. We have been trained in a certain way from the time of J.B Danquah, Busia and all the leaders you know, those who are dead and alive, President Kufour; this is not the character of our party. This is not our tradition…I render an apology to Peace FM and Despite Media”, he stated, promising that “going forward, this thing won’t happen again. You can count on us”.
He seized the moment to rendered an unqualified apology to the staff and management together with the owners of Despite Media.
“On behalf of the entire party, the New Patriotic Party that many people refer to as NPP and our President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as well as other national officers who assist me to run this party and on my own behalf as National Chairman that the embarrassing thing that happened at this station by some members of our party, if I say I’m sitting aloof for it to resolve itself, then I also woudn’t have helped as National Chairman.
“I am here today on behalf of the party to render an unqualified apology to Peace FM, management, UTV, Despite Media and all Ghanaians. I want to also singled out Dr. Osei Kwame and apologize to him. I also apologize to you, Kwami Sefa Kayi,” he said on Peace FM’s morning show “Kokrokoo” in an interview with host Kwami Sefa Kayi.
