The National Deputy Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Malik Basintale has been honored by the Wa-Naa, His Royal Majesty Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV.
Malik Basintale was conferred with Yel-Naa which means Chief of Communication.
The short ceremony took place at the palace of Wa-Naa, His Royal Majesty Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV.
It came in the wake of Mr. Basintale’s public spat with Sissala East MP Amidu Chinnia Issahaku.
In his acceptance speech, the NDC National Deputy Communications Officer addressed the plea made by the Wa-Naa regarding his “brother” Amidu Chinnia Issahaku, stating, “I will plea with the Wa-Naa to just turn a blind eye to a slave and his master’s little play.”
Mr. Basintale acknowledged that the two were “only playing with each other” and that Amidu Chinnia Issahaku had now accepted him as his “chief,” while declaring that “the play is over”.
The NDC National Deputy Communication Officer further promised to “temper Justice with mercy,” assuring the Wa-Naa that he would not bring up his documents which he said are from “tooth to teeth” again.
Mr. Basintale recently alleged on national TV that the Sissala East MP Amidu Chinnia Issahaku has been engaging in corrupt practices after the MP had accused NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama of corruption.
The gesture from the traditional ruler appears to have prompted the NDC Deputy National Communications officer to adopt a more conciliatory approach, suggesting a potential resolution to the heated exchange.
However, it is not clear if Malik Basintale will tone down on his quest to defend the good name of the former president and standard-bearer of the National Democratic Congress.
