Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz believes the Black Stars are steadily improving as a team ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup clash against England.
The Portuguese tactician was encouraged by his side’s performance in their opening Group L fixture, where Ghana secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Panama thanks to a late winner from Caleb Yirenkyi.
With confidence growing in camp, Queiroz says the team is adapting well to his tactical ideas and continues to make progress with each game.
The former Real Madrid and Portugal coach explained that Ghana’s style of play is being shaped around the strengths of the players currently available to him.
“We are growing as a team,” he said.
“We are playing a different system, and our attacking methods are built around the profile of our players,” Queiroz added.
The 73-year-old also highlighted his desire to see the Black Stars play a direct and energetic brand of football as they continue to develop during the tournament.
“We want vertical football and full-speed action. Step by step, the players will improve and adjust to each other,” he said.
Ghana’s victory over Panama placed them in a strong position in Group L, with another positive result potentially enough to secure qualification to the knockout stage.
The Black Stars will now turn their attention to a highly anticipated encounter against England at Gillette Stadium on June 23 as they seek to continue their impressive start to the World Cup.
