Brafoyaw Receives Health Center | News Ghana

The chiefs and people of Brafoyaw, a farming settlement in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) District of the Central Region have, since time immemorial depended on health facilities in Moree and Cape Coast for medical attention.

This situation has to a larger extent rendered many precious lives perishing. To help address the challenges, the AAK District in conjunction with the Coastal Development Authority has put up a CHPS compound, a facility, part of the Community Health-Based Planning Services (CHPS) program, for the Brafoyaw community. It is an approved structure consisting of a service delivery point and accommodation complex.

The chief of Brafoyaw, Nana Atobra Kese, who was the chairman of a durbar held for the handing over of the project to the community, thanked the NPP government, the MP, Elvis Morris Donkoh, the AAK District Health Directorate, and the Coastal Development Authority for the project. He pledged to ensure that proper care is taken of the facility.

The District Chief Executive of the area, Willyevans Obri Awuah, took the gatherings through the historical background of the project, from planning through sod cutting and completion to commissioning. He thanked all individuals and institutions for supporting the initiative.

He lauded the NPP Parliamentary candidate for the 2024 Elections, Eric Kobina Nyante, for installing a solar panel to augment the existing hydroelectric power supply and minimize the impact of intermittent power outages in the community. He pleaded with the community to help make the works of health staff to be posted to the area more lively.

Elvis Morris Donkoh disclosed that the facility should have been completed and handed over to the community as far back as 2020. That notwithstanding, he thanked the community for helping him execute the project and improve the road network to the Drowa Plus Hotel in the area .

He asked the inhabitants to rally behind the 2024 Parliamentary candidate for the area, Eric Kobina Nyante, for better developments.

The Central Regional Director of the Coastal Development Authority, Obed Acquah Quansah, disclosed that the authority implemented uncountable physical and economic developments in the town within the last four to eight years. Notable among those projects he identified is the Brafoyaw CHPS Compound which it partnered the AAK District Assembly to construct. He pleaded with the inhabitants to retain the NPP in the parliamentary and presidential elections for more such developments.

The Deputy Director of Public health in the Central Regional Health Directorate, Dr Jojo Cobbinah, thanked the community for supporting the project. He disclosed that much as the regional Health Directorate had posted qualified staff to man the hospital, much more supports are needed from the community to keep the ambience of the hospital tidy all the time.

He also urged the community and medical staff to strengthen their relationship to enhance professional and dedicated service delivery.
