Netherlands striker Brian Brobbey scored twice as the Dutch moved to the verge of the FIFA World Cup Round of 32 with a commanding 5-1 victory over Sweden.
The Sunderland forward, who is the elder brother of Ghana defender Derrick Lukassen, delivered a standout performance after being handed a surprise start by Dutch coach Ronald Koeman.
Brobbey opened the scoring after just five minutes, finishing a swift counterattack following a low cross from Cody Gakpo. He doubled the lead 12 minutes later, turning home another precise delivery from Denzel Dumfries.
Gakpo added two goals of his own, while substitute Crysencio Summerville completed the rout as the Netherlands climbed to the top of Group F.
The match also highlighted one of the tournament’s unique family connections. While Brobbey is starring for the Netherlands, his brother Lukassen is part of Ghana’s World Cup squad and hopes to make his tournament debut when the Black Stars face England on Tuesday.
