The jury of the Immersive Competition at the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival has awarded the Best Immersive Work prize to Katàbasis, created by Ugo Arsac.

The award was presented at the Plage des Palmes, while a Special Jury Mention went to The Black Mirror Experience by creators David Bardos and Damià Ferràndiz.

The Immersive Competition jury was chaired by Blanca Li and included Céline Tricart, Michel van der Aa, Mary Matheson and Hsin-Chien Huang.

Speaking on the winning project, Blanca Li described Katàbasis as “a magnificent immersive work, deeply human, authentic and emotionally powerful, that allows us to reconnect with what binds together seemingly ordinary human beings.”

Now in its third edition, the Cannes Immersive Competition was hosted at the Carlton Hotel and welcomed up to 200 guests per showcase, generating more than 3,000 bookings throughout the festival.

This year’s official immersive selection featured nine works in competition representing eight countries.
