Annor Walker believes the Black Galaxies will fare well without captain Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, who will miss the team’s next game if they advance from Group C.
Barnieh was sent off in added time for a reckless challenge. He looked set to be the match-winner after putting Ghana ahead from the spot in the second half after Konadu Yiadom had cancelled out Sudan’s lead.
Suraj Seidu scored from close range a minute after Barnieh was sent off, putting Black Galaxies in a good position to advance to the next round.
If they advance, Barnieh will be unavailable, but coach Annor Walker says he has a replacement.
“It’s unfortunate Afriyie got the red card. He’s one of my top strikers. But I came with 25 players so I will have a replacement to play in the quarter-finals stage and after that, he can be in action,” said Walker.
For Ghana to qualify, Madagascar must avoid defeat to Sudan. Ghana can still go through if Sudan beat Madagascar with a slim goal margin.
