Former Chelsea, Aston Villa and England National Men’s Football Team Captain John Terry is sympathizing with demised Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu who was confirmed dead early today.
Atsu’s body was pulled from the rubble of his collapsed apartment in Hatay after an earthquake struck the south eastern Turkish city on Monday, February 6.
Reacting to the news, Blues Legend Terry wrote a short message on his Twitter page that reads, “RIP my friend”.
In the wake of the disaster, Atsu’s whereabouts were unknown after early reports suggested he had been rescued from the rubble and hospitalized.
Terry and Atsu were teammates at Chelsea during the 2012-2013 season after the latter joined The Blues from Portuguese side FC Porto.
Atsu spent time at Chelsea in preseason camps before being loaned out to Vitesse, Everton, Bournemouth and Malaga.
He also played for Newcastle United before joining Saudi side Al Raeb for a season.
