Chelsea are set to secure a 45 million euros (£38.57 million) deal to sign defender Axel Disasi from AS Monaco.
The agreement is currently being finalised, and once completed, the 25-year-old France international will provide Chelsea with an additional right-sided centre-back option.
The need for defensive reinforcements arises due to the injury to Wesley Fofana, who has been ruled out for several months after undergoing anterior cruciate ligament surgery. In addition, Benoit Badiashile is also currently injured and won’t be fit until after the Premier League season starts.

As it stands, Chelsea’s centre-back options include Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah, and Levi Colwill, who has caught the attention of Brighton.
Axel Disasi joined Monaco from Stade de Reims in August 2020 and has since made 118 appearances for the Ligue 1 club. He has also earned four caps for France, making his full international debut in a World Cup defeat against Tunisia last November.
Once the deal is completed, Disasi will become Chelsea’s third summer signing, joining forwards Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku at Stamford Bridge.
