Belgian youngster Romeo Lavia has sealed a move to Chelsea after successful negotiations, the club has announced.
The midfielder had a great campaign with Southampton last season appearing in 29 Premier League games which triggered the interest of a number of teams including Liverpool and Chelsea.
The 19-year-old however, opted to join Chelsea in a £58m deal which would see him join a plethora of talents in midfield including the two British record signings Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez
“I’m really happy to join Chelsea and be a part of this exciting project. It’s an amazing football club with a great history and I’m really excited to get started.
“I can’t wait to meet all my new teammates and build chemistry together to achieve great things together,” Lavia said in his first interview with the club.
Lavia joined Southampton from Manchester City only last summer and suddenly rose to become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
Before joining Manchester City at the age of 16, Lavia began his career at Anderlecht in Belgium, where he spent eight years.
