Black Stars Coach, Chris Hughton, says his aim is to channel his experiences over the years into building a winning team for the Senior National Team of Ghana.
Speaking to journalists during his official unveiling at the SG Mall in Kumasi in the Ashanti region on Monday, March 20, the former Brighton manager said he will develop the players at his disposal and create a winning mentality to help achieve some success.
“There will be questions, why is this player playing and why is that player playing, but ultimately I want to see a winning team and…using the players to the best of their abilities,” Chris Hughton said.
The former Newcastle manager also explained that his standing and credentials at the highest level of football management have equipped him with the right skills and expertise for the Black Stars job.
The former Technical Director for the Black Stars also promised to pay more attention to the local league and identify players who fit his footballing philosophy.
He, however, described Ghana’s campaign at the 2022 World Cup as disappointing. According to him, the biggest disappointment was the defeat to Uruguay which he believes the Black Stars should have won.
The 64-year-old who replaces Otto Addo has been given a 21-month contract which is subject to renewal based on performance.
