Michael Osei

Former Asante Kotoko and Bibiani Gold Stars coach Michael Osei has expressed his interest in the vacant Ghana head coach position.

Osei believes that his extensive coaching experience, including leading Ghana’s U23 team alongside coach Ibrahim Tanko, makes him well-suited for the role.

In an interview with Akoma 87.9 FM, Osei stated, “Yes, I have applied for the job because I believe that with everything I’ve learnt, I am capable of coaching the squad.”

Osei highlighted his experience working with young players such as Majeed Ashimeru, Enerst Nuamah, and Osman Bukari, who are all part of the current Black Stars setup.

He emphasised his understanding of Ghanaian culture and his commitment to winning, stating, “I’ve been coaching in Ghana for about 12 years, totalling nearly 15 years of coaching experience. Ghana is also my home country, so I understand the culture, have the expertise, and believe now is the time to coach the squad and I’m always a winner.”

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is seeking a proven winner with over 15 years of coaching experience to fill the position left vacant by Chris Hughton’s departure.

Osei appears confident in his abilities and is eager to take on the challenge. The GFA is expected to conduct interviews and assessments before making a final decision on the next head coach of the Black Stars.
