U.S. Cremonese coach, Davide Ballardini says Ghanaian forward, Felix Afena-Gyan has the potential to become ‘an interesting player’ if he improves.
In a game that ended 1-1 against Verona at the Stadio Giovanni Zini, the 20-year-old made a third consecutive appearance for Cremonese having missed four out of the previous six following his introduction in the 70th minute.
Afena-Gyan has made most of his appearances from the bench since joining the team from AS Roma and is hoping to break into the first team.
Ballardini the manager of the team, believes the youngster has not neared his potential and has urged him to step up to meet the toughness of the Italian Serie A.
“He is a boy in his first year of continuity with a Serie A team and it seems to me that he has made many appearances, it is clear that he needs to improve a lot,” he said as reported by sosfanta.calciomercato.com. as quoted by Footballghana.
“You took him on because he has noble qualities such as quickness and speed, the technical and tactical aspects will gradually improve.
“With the qualities that he has, if he improves he can become a very interesting boy. But Serie A doesn’t wait for you, they want you ready and if you’re not ready, it’s noticeable,” he added.
Having scored two goals in the Coppa Italia, Afena-Gyan is yet to score for Cremonese in the Italian Serie A.
