Former Ghana international Daniel Opare has expressed confidence in the Black Stars’ ability to progress beyond the group stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana have been drawn in a challenging Group L alongside England national football team, Croatia national football team, and Panama national football team for the tournament, which will be co-hosted by United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Black Stars will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17, before taking on England on June 23. They will conclude their group fixtures against Croatia on June 27.

Speaking in an interview with JoySports, Opare stated that he expects Ghana to advance to the knockout stage, adding that progression could set the team up for further success in the competition.

“My expectation for them is to get out of the group stage. If we are able to get out, we have a good chance to win one or two matches,” he said.

The expanded 48-team tournament will see Ghana make their fifth World Cup appearance, with their best run coming in 2010 when they reached the quarterfinals.
