Ghanaian comic actor Richard Asante, popularly known as Kalybos, recently opened up about why he ended his five-year relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Frimpongmaa, during an appearance on the Girls Aloud podcast. Reflecting on their time together, Kalybos shared that while he appreciated their long relationship, he ultimately realized that time alone does not create an obligation to marry.
“Being in a relationship for a longer period doesn’t mean you have to settle with the person no matter what,” he explained. After assessing the relationship, Kalybos felt it wasn’t leading in the direction he envisioned for his future, which led to the difficult decision to part ways.
When one of the panelists asked Kalybos if he had chosen to marry his current wife because of her wealth or her background from the Diaspora, he responded with candid honesty. He acknowledged that his wife’s financial stability did play a role in his choice, adding, “Yes, she’s a rich woman.”
Recently, Kalybos celebrated his and his wife’s first wedding anniversary, marking the occasion with a heartfelt post on social media, expressing his joy and gratitude for his new chapter in life.
