The Electoral Commission of Ghana has assured the general public and all political parties that the Commission has not commenced the printing of ballot papers for the December 7 presidential and Parliamentary elections.

This information was contained in a press release dated, 10th October, 2024 and signed by the deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, in-charge of Operations.

The clarity provided by the EC on the printing of ballot papers ahead of the December 7 elections was necessitated by a recent demand made by the largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) calling on the EC to provide clarity on the printing process, provide details of the contractor doing the printing, the quantity of ballot papers being printed as well as security features of the ballot papers.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed concerns regarding the printing of ballot papers for Ghana’s December 7 elections.

The NDC further expressed concerns about potential bias in the printing process, emphasizing the need for neutrality and the need to ensure that ballot papers are not tampered with or manipulated by any illegal means.

“We would like to assure the general Public that printing of ballot papers has not commenced. Printing of notices of Poll for the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections however, begins on Friday, 11th October, 2024,” excerpts of the statement read.
