A shooting incident on December 7, 2024, in Kasoa Zongo, located in the Awutu Senya East Constituency, has left one person injured. The victim, a driver for a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was shot in the thigh during a misunderstanding among voters.
Eyewitnesses reported that the suspect, identified as Mujaheed Sujag (also known as Mims), fired a pump-action gun twice, aiming at the NDC constituency chairman but missing and hitting the victim instead. Sujag had reportedly threatened individuals in the area, claiming to have acquired a gun for use during the elections.
Despite the presence of police officers, Sujag managed to flee the scene, leaving his vehicle behind, which has since been impounded by authorities. The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for the suspect and has assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend him.
The police are urging anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward and assist in the investigation.
