The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has granted Suame Member of Parliament John Darko enquiry bail after he honoured an invitation to assist investigations into an alleged financial loss of approximately GH¢27 million involving SIC Savings and Loans Company Limited.
In a news release dated Tuesday, October 13, 2026, EOCO said John Darko reported to its office at exactly 12 noon and was cooperative and responsive throughout the investigative process.
The Office said its decision to grant him enquiry bail took into account the circumstances of the case, the applicable law and his level of cooperation with investigators.
EOCO further said it is investigating an alleged criminal conspiracy linked to the financial loss, which the Office said is now estimated at approximately GH¢27 million.
The latest development comes less than two weeks after the arrest of Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah in connection with investigations into alleged financial transactions involving SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited.
Mr Baffour Awuah reported to EOCO on October 1, following an Accra High Court warrant authorising his arrest and the search and seizure of documents relevant to the investigation.
The warrant followed an earlier attempted arrest at the Accra High Court on September 23, which triggered a confrontation between EOCO officers and the legislator.
EOCO had said it invited Mr Baffour Awuah on two occasions in February 2026 to assist with its investigations but that he failed to honour the invitations. The MP disputed aspects of the Office’s account, maintaining that his former law firm had cooperated with investigators and provided information and a written statement.
He was subsequently charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, causing financial loss of GH¢9.85 million to the state and money laundering. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted GH¢10 million bail by the High Court on October 3, with two sureties and an order to deposit his passport with the court.
The allegations against Mr Baffour Awuah remain subject to the judicial process.
EOCO has also disclosed that Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, the former Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, has honoured its invitation and is cooperating with investigators.
The Office said investigations into the matter are progressing in line with its case theory but stressed that no conclusion has been reached regarding the culpability or otherwise of any person connected to the case.
