Ghana winger Ernest Nuamah has finally returned to competitive action for Olympique Lyon after spending over a year on the sidelines with a serious ACL injury.
The 22-year-old made his comeback as a late substitute in Lyon’s 4-2 home victory over Stade Rennais in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday.
Nuamah, who replaced Brazilian forward Endrick in the 84th minute, received a warm reception as he stepped onto the pitch for the first time since suffering a left knee ACL rupture on April 5, 2025, during a 2-1 win against Lille.
The exciting winger’s return comes as a huge boost for both Lyon and the Black Stars. Following the win, Lyon climbed to third position on the Ligue 1 table with 60 points.
Ernest Nuamah will now be looking to gradually regain full match fitness in the remaining games of the season as he sets his sights on being ready for Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign in June.
