Accra Lions bounced back to victory with a remarkable performance by Abdul Bassit Seidu who made history by scoring four goals in a single game for the first time this season.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko came from behind to record a crucial victory over league leaders Aduana Stars while Hearts of Oak saw another away defeat against Bechem United who have equally set their sights on the title.
Here are five things we learned from the Ghana Premier League matchday 27.
BASSIT SEIDU MAKES HISTORY
Seidu Bassit became the only player to score a haul in a single game in the ongoing Ghana Premier League. The youngster scored all four goals for Accra Lions as they stunned title contenders Medeama 4-2 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.
Prior to the game there Bechem United duo, Cephas Ohene Mantey and Hafiz Konkoni were the only players to have scored a hat-trick this season. The win has finally put Accra Lions back on track having gone five games without a win previously.

VINCENT ATINGAH JOINS TOPSCORER’S LIST
Medeama SC captain Vincent Atingah has become the only defender to be clearly involved in the top scorers battle. Having scored a brace for Medeama in their defeat to Accra Lions, he is now in the top five with nine goals and will need to beat competition from, Hafiz Konkoni, Mezack Afriyie, Stephen Mukwala, and the likes to set the surprise record of winning the golden boot.
MAXWELL KONADU ON COURSE IN SURVIVAL BATTLE
Legon Cities now seem to be finding grounds in the battle to escape relegation as they recorded their first consecutive victories after seven months. The Royals won at a very tough ground when they beat Karela United at the Cosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) Park. Legon Cities’ 2-0 win is the first 2+ goal margin defeat at home for Karela since July 2021. Having won their previous game against Kotoku, Royals, Legon Cities appears to be on course for survival as they move to 14th on the table.
OSEI-FOSU TASTES FIRST DEFEAT
Fans of King Faisal have obviously been impressed with the recent outcomes of their games since the departure of Jimmy Cobblah. However, the new boss Ignatius Osei-Fosu has seen defeat for the first time as a manager for the Insha Allah boys following their 1-0 loss to Nsoatreman. The young coach began with a positive impression churning out results against the fiercest opponents in Asante Kotoko and Aduana Stars among others. However, it would be important to start prioritising games of such caliber [against low-rated clubs] if surviving relegation is really a target.
KOTOKO NOT GIVING UP ON TITLE HOPES
It looked almost over for Asante Kotoko to contend for the Ghana Premier League title but their spirited comeback against Aduana Stars could set them on the path to battle. They are still out of the top four but are now five points behind the leaders with seven matches to go. It has equally been difficult for Hearts of Oak and Bechem United as well as Medeama SC to be on a ruthless run as they all seem to drop points in between games. This certainly makes the title race more interesting and fair to say it could be decided on the final day of the competition.
