Former Ghana striker Augustine Arhinful has expressed disappointment in the Black Stars’ inconsistent performances during their recent World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Arhinful noted that the team showed contrasting performances in the first and second halves across their last four matches.

He also questioned the team’s cautious approach, especially when leading.

“I think that these four matches we have played we can say that we have always had two halves of the game. First half performance is different from second half performance and I think that is the area we have to assess the reasons why it is like that. What I have learnt more I think we are too cautious or maybe we are too afraid to open up,” he told Peace FM as monitored by Footballghana.com

“I don’t know the coach’s tactics but what I have observe against Mali we played two DMs against Central Affrican Republic the same it was Thomas Partey and I think Ashimeru. Second half half we were leading but we brought Elisha Owusu on to come and do what to defend the one goal? so we have to assess what we are doing so that we change.

“Individually the players are good if you remove them one one one because if they are performing for their clubs and performing well why is it that when they come here we don’t see the same performance maybe how to blend them together,”
