A member of the Ghana Coalition Against Illegal Mining, Senyo Hosi, has criticized the government for its ineffective handling of the illegal mining crisis, stating that “the government has failed in its duty.”

In an interview on TV3’s The Key Points with Alfred Ocansey, Hosi urged government to “stop making excuses” and focus on addressing the issue.

He emphasized that President Nana Akufo-Addo holds the power to put an end to the illegal mining crisis and called for decisive action, including the possibility of declaring a state of emergency.

“Our state is failing, and the government has failed. Let’s admit it and fix it. Don’t give too many unnecessary excuses,” Hosi said.

He further recommended that the government should take a pause on any ongoing actions if there is no clear plan in place, advising that a review is necessary to save the country.
