Ghana U-23 men’s team, the Black Meteors, have been drawn in the same group as hosts Morocco for the upcoming U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, which will be held between June 28 and July 8.

The draw, which took place in Morocco on Friday, means that Ghana will play Congo and Guinea in addition to the hosts in Group A. Meanwhile, Group B will also feature Egypt, Mali, Gabon, and Niger.

Ghana secured their place in the tournament after beating Algeria 2-1 on aggregate in March, thanks to goals from Fatawu Issahaku, who converted diligent passes from Ernest Nuamah in both legs.

The tournament serves as a qualifying event for the Olympic Games in Paris next year, and the Black Meteors, who narrowly missed out on qualification four years ago, are hoping to make it this time around.

They have missed out on the Olympic Games on the last four occasions and are eager to redeem themselves after 20 years.
