German-born Ghanaian forward Jaime Leweling was on target in VfB Stuttgart’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.

The match at the MHPArena saw Stuttgart dominate possession and create more chances, but Mainz’s resilience denied them a win.

Stuttgart opened the scoring early through Enzo Millot in the 8th minute, and Jaime Leweling doubled their lead in the 15th minute with a right-footed strike into the top corner, assisted by Alexander Nübel. Mainz, however, fought back, with Nadiem Amiri converting a penalty just before halftime.

In the second half, Jonathan Burkardt leveled for Mainz with a header in the 61st minute. Stuttgart regained the lead through Fabian Rieder’s free-kick in the 88th minute, but Mainz salvaged a point in stoppage time, as Maxim Leitsch headed in the equalizer.

Stuttgart will next face Borussia Mönchengladbach on September 14th, while Mainz extends their unbeaten run to 15 matches.
