Seyram Mawuenyega, a Ghanaian student who gained attention for his open letter to the former president of the Ghana Football Association in 2013, has achieved remarkable academic success since then. Seyram, who was just 11 years old at the time, impressed many with his eloquent writing skills, leading to debates about the authenticity of the letter’s authorship.
Seyram continued to excel academically after writing the letter. He completed his high school education at SOS Herman Gmeiner International College, where he graduated at the top of his class, won numerous awards and prizes, and served as the Comportment Prefect.
In 2020, Seyram’s exceptional academic achievements earned him a full scholarship to Brown University, an esteemed Ivy League institution in the United States. Pursuing a major in Business Economics, he is currently in his final year at the university.
Recently, Seyram’s accomplishments were celebrated on a grand scale, as his image appeared on a giant billboard in New York City’s Times Square.
The billboard recognizes him as one of Morgan Stanley’s 2023 Summer Analysts within the Wealth Management division.
This achievement is particularly noteworthy considering the highly competitive nature of the Morgan Stanley Summer Analyst program, which accepts only 2% of applicants after a rigorous selection process.
Seyram’s remarkable journey has brought immense pride not only to his family but also to the people of Ghana. He hails from a distinguished lineage, being the son of the late Steve Mawuenyega, former vice-chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak Football Club and former Honorary Consul of Serbia to Ghana, as well as Princess Penelope Jones-Mensah, a renowned lawyer and former beauty queen.
He is the second of three children, with his sisters Xolasie and Chloe Elinam also achieving notable accomplishments.
The late Justice (Rtd) Emmanuel Kofi Jones-Mensah, Seyram’s grandfather, adds to the family’s impressive legacy.
A child prodigy himself, he became the attorney-general of Cameroon at the age of 28 and later served as a justice of the superior courts of judicature in Ghana and Chief Justice of the Gambia.
