Great Olympics coach, Annor Walker has criticized Hearts of Oak for their ‘unserious’ approach in hiring a new coach for the upcoming season.

Following his departure from Samartex where he spent a single season, Walker was heavily linked with a move to the Phobians who are still seeking a replacement for Serbian trainer Slavko Matic.

However, to the surprise of the masses, the veteran coach rather reunited with Great Olympics, a side he coached two seasons ago.

While many have raised concerns about why Walker opted for the rivals of Hearts of Oak, he said there were no official contacts from the club.

Describing the club as unserious, Annor Walker said the team wanted to get their choice of players before getting a coach which he believes isn’t ideal.

“Nobody has spoken to me. All that is trending were just rumors. They are not serious. They wanted to recruit players before engaging a coach,” he told Ghanasportspage

“The only person who contacted me was Odotei [Hearts of Oak board member] who requested my CV through WhatsApp which I sent.

“When I followed up after two weeks he said they were holding meetings with the players and I never heard from him again. My first conversation with Odotei was on 7th June.

“Up till today, I haven’t heard from them. So all those reports suggesting they were in touch are all lies.

“There’s no truth about whatever they were saying. I just don’t want to talk. We are all mature and you can’t expose someone. I haven’t written to Hearts that I want a job,” he added.

Hearts of Oak saw three different coaches complete a single season where they narrowly escaped relegation and are still in the market for a long-term replacement. After parting ways with Samuel Boadu, Slavko Matic took over but saw his position taken by David Ocloo on an interim basis.
