Great Olympics will no longer use the Accra Sports Stadium for their home games for the remainder of the season after their request to move to Sogakope was granted by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The club wrote to the GFA seeking their games to be moved due to the “high cost of honouring matches in Accra”, and fortunately for them, their request has been approved, which means WAFA Park will now be their home until the end of the current season.
“This decision was taken on Monday, 17 April 2023, after a careful review of the reasons stated by the club,” part of the statement on GFA website read.
“The Accra Sports Stadium and the WAFA park were approved by the Club Licensing Committee of the GFA for Accra Great Olympics FC as main and alternative venues respectively at the start of the season.”
Olympics are currently in the bottom three and will be hoping Sogakope is a happy ground for them as they seek to avoid relegation.
