Gladson Awako has denied the recent media reports claiming that he has mutually terminated his contract with Hearts of Oak

The experienced midfielder clarified that he is still under contract with Hearts of Oak and has around 14 to 15 months remaining on his current deal.

Responding to the speculations, Awako confirmed his commitment to the Phobians and expressed his excitement about leading the team.

“At the moment, I’m still a player of Hearts of Oak, I have 14-15 months left. We don’t have a coach for now. A new coach might come with a new philosophy, but I’m happy to captain this great team,” Awako stated in an interview with Akoma FM.

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, the 32-year-old assured Hearts fans of a stronger team performance from him and his teammates. Despite facing challenges with injuries in the past season, Awako is determined to deliver a remarkable campaign for the club.

“All I will say for now is that I’m still a Hearts Of Oak player. When the season starts, we, the fans, should expect a different team performance. We will give out our best, as we have been doing always, to make the club great again,” he added.

Awako, who joined the club from city rivals Great Olympics, experienced early success by winning the FA Cup in his debut season. However, despite the initial triumph, he has struggled to fully establish himself.
