Hearts of Oak attacker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has won the 2022 SWAG Home-based Footballer of the Player Award.
The 22-year-old beat his Black Galaxies teammate Danlad Ibrahim and the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League Goal King Yaw Annor who scored 22 league goals in 30 games.
Barnieh, who won the Award last season, enjoyed a memorable year with Hearts of Oak, the Black Galaxies, and the Black Meteors, playing influential roles in their various campaigns.
The attacker, who has recently joined Swiss Super League side FC Zurich, netted 7 times in the year for Hearts of Oak, while playing an instrumental role in Ghana’s qualification to the 2023 CHAN Tournament in Algeria.
Meanwhile, the attacker scored 3 vital goals for Ghana’s U23 side as the Black Meteors triumphed 4-1 in an aggregate victory over Mozambique in the U23 AFCON Qualifiers.
He was one of the two home-based players who earned spots in Ghana’s final squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and proved his quality in a FIFA international friendly win over Switzerland just before the FIFA World Cup.
