Famous Ghanaian songstress Wendy Shay recently spoke out about the importance of marketing and money in the music industry today.

She said that hit songs are no longer just about creativity, but also about having the financial resources to promote them effectively.

“The new era of creating a hit song has become capital intensive.. Unlike the days when conventional media promotion sufficed, now times have changed, and the music industry is flooded with various available platforms.”

The RuffTown Records signee pointed out that the cost of promoting a song has increased significantly in recent years, as artists now need to invest in multiple platforms, such as social media, streaming services, and music videos. She also said that the competition for attention is fiercer than ever, with so many artists releasing new music all the time.

“It’s no longer enough to just make a good song.. You also need to have the money to market it properly. If you don’t have the resources, it’s going to be very difficult to get your music heard.”

Shay’s comments reflect the reality of the music industry today, where success is often determined by financial resources as much as creative talent.

This is especially true for independent artists, who may not have the same access to funding and promotion as major-label artists.

However, Shay also offered some words of encouragement to aspiring artists. She said that even if you don’t have a lot of money, you can still be successful if you’re creative and willing to put in the hard work.
