A sixth person has been arrested in connection with the murder of a Hong Kong model whose dismembered legs were found inside a fridge.
Abby Choi was a model and influencer who shared her glamorous life of photoshoots and fashion shows with more than 100,000 followers on Instagram.
The 28-year-old was reportedly last seen more than a week ago on 21 February, with police finding her legs in a fridge days later.
A young woman’s skull, which is believed to be Ms Choi’s, and several ribs were found in a cooking pot that was seized from the property where her legs were found.
A hole on the back of the skull is where she was struck in the fatal attack, officials believe.
On Thursday, police arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of aiding and abetting an offender, according to local media reports.
He is accused of trying to help Ms Choi’s ex-husband Alex Kwong flee Hong Kong by sea.
Kwong, 28, his father, Kwong Kau and brother, Anthony Kwong, were charged with murder on Monday, while Alex Kwong’s mother, Jenny Li, faces one count of perverting the course of justice.
A fifth person suspected of hiding one of the suspects was released on police bail without charge.
‘Strong evidence’ from landfill search
More than 120 officers ended their search of a landfill site for more of the model’s body parts as police continue to investigate the gruesome killing.
Her torso and hands have not yet been found.
Superintendent Alan Chung told reporters: “Even though we didn’t find them [the missing body parts], we obtained strong evidence in the case.”
Officers also revisited the house in the village of Lung Mei Tsuen where Ms Choi’s remains were reportedly found. A police cordon remains at the scene.
Ms Choi’s last social media post was more than a week ago, featuring a photoshoot she had done with L’Officiel Monaco, a fashion publication.
Police have said she was embroiled in a financial dispute involving tens of millions of Hong Kong dollars with her ex-husband and his family – with “some people” unhappy with the way she handled her finances.
