Former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has revealed that he did not receive any payment while playing for Great Olympics in the Ghana Premier League.
He recently announced his departure from the team, citing the mistreatment of coach Yaw Preko, who was fired a few days ago.
Agyemang Badu explained that his decision to join Great Olympics was motivated by a desire to raise the league’s standard and make it more appealing to fans. However, due to the club’s behaviour, he feels unwanted and has chosen to leave.
“If you look at my contract with them I don’t take one pesewa from them. If someone says he saw me taking any money from them he should come and prove it. I haven’t collected any money from anyone.
“We all came so that the league will be exciting and improve but per the information, I have now I was the reason why the coach[Yaw Preko] was sacked. They don’t want the coach to use me but he stood on his toes and suggested that he needed me in the team,” Agyemang Badu said to Peace FM as reported by Footballghana.com.
He further claimed that, regardless of the nepotism, his presence has really improved the club indicating their (GHALCA) top 6 victory as one of the achievements in which he played an instrumental role in winning.
“In all those matches [the coach opted to use me] I was the best player. I played well for the club because it is a club we all want to help so that the league will improve,”
“When we started the top eight [GHALCA top 6] we were able to win it but in the league, we admit that we have been poor failing to win 4/5 matches. However, we are trying to turn things around but if this is what they are planning against me I can’t be in that institution,” he added.
