Ghana’s emerging Afrobeat sensation Olivetheboy in an interview with Jason El-A on MX24TV, disclosed that his parents were not initially supportive of his interest in music but instead urged him to prioritize his education and spiritual life.
Despite their objections, his freestyles were gaining popularity, and people were reaching out to him. Olivetheboy tried to convince his mother that he could pursue music and education simultaneously, but she was not convinced.
The ”Goodsin” crooner continued to pursue music secretly without his parents’ knowledge. Once they found out, his mother threatened to involve the authorities and have him arrested. She wanted him to concentrate on his studies and not his music career.
Olivetheboy, on the other hand, was confident that he could balance both and eventually make his dream a reality.
