John Dumelo, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has vowed to work tirelessly to bring meaningful development to his constituency.
The actor-turned-politician made this pledge during his first media interaction following his swearing-in at the 9th Parliament of Ghana on Tuesday, January 7.
Dumelo, one of 275 MPs inaugurated in the early hours of the day, expressed both excitement and a deep sense of responsibility as he begins his term in office.
He urged his constituents to support his journey with prayers and constructive criticism, emphasising his commitment to serving their best interests.
In his remarks, Dumelo reflected on the challenges and triumphs leading up to his election. He admitted to moments of self-doubt during his campaign but shared his belief that his victory was part of a larger purpose to uplift the people of Ayawaso West Wuogon.
“There were times when I questioned myself as to who sent me on this journey,” he admitted. “But there were also moments when it felt clear that I was meant to be here to redeem Ayawaso West Wuogon. I am excited to represent my people and will do everything within my abilities to serve them well.”
The MP called on his constituents to play an active role in his tenure, urging them to be forthright with their feedback.
“They should back me with prayers, correct me when I am wrong, praise me when I do the right thing, and work with me to develop Ayawaso West Wuogon,” he further pleaded.
