The long-standing controversy over who is the biggest Ghanaian musician, Shatta Wale or Sarkodie, has taken a new twist.
In an interview on Empire FM, Shatta Wale stated emphatically that Sarkodie can never be bigger than him.
The “Like My Thing” hitmaker, who is known for his outspoken and controversial statements, claimed that he splintered the music industry with his hit song “Bandana” before the “Adonai” rapper arrived.
He then argued that, as a pioneer in the Ghanaian music industry, he is more experienced and should be respected for his contributions. He added that he should not be compared to someone who came after him, as he has already paved the way for them.
In his usual outspoken style, the self-proclaimed dancehall king disclosed that comparing him to Sarkodie has inflated the most successful Ghanaian rapper’s ego, as he now feels like they’re on the same level.
The controversy is likely to continue for some time, as both Shatta Wale and Sarkodie are fiercely competitive and protective of their status as the top Ghanaian musician.
Only time will tell who will ultimately emerge victorious in this battle of the titans.
