Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams is confident of scoring for his team against Barcelona in La Liga this weekend to propel them to fight for a place in Europe next season.
The two sides will clash on Sunday night as Barcelona aims to redeem themselves with the La Liga title having been knocked out of the UEFA Champions League and subsequently the UEFA Europa League.
The Black Stars striker who has scored six times against the league leaders is hoping of extending his tally when they meet again.
The 28-year-old is however aware of the prowess of Ter Stegen, the Barcelona goalkeeper, and is working on beating him one more time.
“I have scored six goals for them and hopefully, I can be the executioner again to add three points that will hook us in the fight for Europe. When we played the Super Cup that we won, at the end of the game I asked him for his shirt, with all due respect, I wanted to have it and it’s framed,” Williams said ahead of the game.
Inaki Williams heaped praise on the manager of his opponents, Xavi Hernandez following the “good work” the former Barcelona midfielder had demonstrated since he took over the team in the midst of crisis.
“Xavi does things well. The Barça fans had lost their illusion and with effort and work, they have recovered it. In the League they are going out, it is difficult for them to fit in and they concede very little. The work is good,” he added.
He scored has already scored five goals this season and was adjudged the best African player in La Liga at the end of the first round of the season.
Inaki Williams who was part of Ghana’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar has been invited once more by new coach Chris Hughton ahead of Ghana’s doubleheader against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
