Jordan Ayew etched his name in Premier League history by becoming the first Ghanaian to score 40 goals in the competition.

The 32-year-old reached this milestone with a composed penalty in the 95th minute during Leicester City’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

His achievement puts him atop the list of Ghanaian Premier League scorers, ahead of legends like Tony Yeboah (24 goals) and Michael Essien (17 goals).

The match itself was a difficult outing for Leicester, who struggled to contain a dominant Chelsea side.

Nicolas Jackson opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a powerful finish after Enzo Fernandez set him up with a clever pass.

Fernandez doubled Chelsea’s lead shortly after, heading home a rebound from Jackson’s initial effort.

Leicester, who lost Harry Winks to an ankle injury early in the game, failed to create meaningful chances for much of the match. Kasey McAteer came closest to scoring in the first half, but his effort missed the target.

Chelsea’s dominance, with over 66% possession, ensured they moved up to third in the league table. Despite the loss, Ayew’s record-breaking moment provided Leicester fans with a glimmer of pride on an otherwise challenging afternoon.
