Joseph Paintsil in action for LA Galaxy

Black Stars winger Joseph Paintsil showcased his brilliance as he played a pivotal role in LA Galaxy’s triumph over Seattle Sounders FC in a thrilling Major League Soccer encounter on Sunday.

Paintsil’s remarkable assist proved decisive as LA Galaxy secured a 1-0 victory over their opponents at the Dignity Health Sports Park.

The Ghana international contributed significantly to the team’s success, assisting Gabriel Pec for the only goal of the match just four minutes into the game.

Although Paintsil was substituted in the 84th minute, his impact on the match was undeniable.

Since joining the MLS club for the 2024 season, the former KRC Genk star has been instrumental, tallying two goals and two assists in six appearances. He swift and clever footwork has also won a penalty for LA Galaxy.

His performances have been crucial in LA Galaxy’s ascent to the top of the league standings with 12 points from six games.

Despite missing the March international break with the Black Stars due to immigration issues, Paintsil remains focused on helping LA Galaxy compete for the MLS title this season.

As the team faces stiff competition from other contenders, Paintsil’s form and contribution will be vital in maintaining their position at the top of the table.

They encounter strong competition from other teams as the season is still in its early stages. Vancouver Whitecaps currently sit in second place with 10 points and have a pending match that could potentially propel them past Galaxy in the standings.

Looking ahead, Paintsil hopes to replicate his stellar performances for the Black Stars in the upcoming international break scheduled for June.

Ghana’s matches against Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers present significant opportunities for both the national team and the talented winger to make an impact on the international stage.
