Former Black Stars international Christian Atsu is dead.
Turkish football agent Murat Uzunmehmet, who handles the player’s rights in Turkey, announced the sad news on Twitter earlier today.
Murat took to Twitter at 5 am on Saturday, February 18th 2023 to announce Atsu’s sad passing.
Writing in Turkish, he wrote: “Christian Atsu found and sadly passed away,”
A Turkish media outlet reported similar news.
The Ghanaian was part of those missing in the deadly earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria.
He was 31 years old.
Atsu is survived by his wife and three kids.
May he rest in peace.
Atsu went missing following an earthquake in Turkey on Monday, February 6th 2023.
The former Newcastle and Chelsea midfielder, now plying his trade in Turkey with Hatayspor, was caught up in the quake.
Despite initial news he had been found, Atsu remained missing until the sad news of his passing was announced today.
