Asante Kotoko have entered into negotiations to sign former Hearts of Oak defender Mohammed Alhassan, according to Accra-based Asempa FM.
Alhassan, 30, has been released by the Phobians and is now free to join any club of his choice.
He had been strongly linked with a move to an Iraqi Premier League side. However, Kotoko have strongly entered into the race for his signature.
The Porcupine Warriors had targeted Bechem United captain Kofi Agbesimah for a winter move. However, it is unlikely that the Hunters will allow their dependable defender to leave during the mid-season.
The situation has forced the 24-time league champions to turn their attention to the former WAFA defender.
Kotoko would wrap up the discussions with the defender and his representatives in the coming days to enable him to officially join Seydou Zerbo’s side.
