Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Nana Yaw Amponsah has denied rumours of a disagreement with the club’s board of directors.

There have been reports that Amponsah, whose three-year deal ends in August, lacks the support of the board led by Dr Kwame Kyei.

Some have blamed Amponsah for not respecting and consulting the board before making crucial decisions, but he has debunked the claims.

“There are claims I don’t respect the board of Kotoko but that is false. We have a board of 12, I don’t think you will get more than three to tell you I don’t respect.

“Jesus Christ was even crucified so I don’t expect everyone to love me. I have never disrespected anybody in my life. Arrogance will never form part of my life because I lost two brothers who did not wake up from their sleep,” he said on Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.

Despite coming into the season as defending champions, Kotoko have struggled to make an impact this year.

The team failed to win the FA Cup and is likely to lose the Ghana Premier League, as they currently trail league leaders Aduana Stars by eight points with only four matches remaining.

Kotoko have only managed to win two out of their last seven games and will face relegated side Kotoku Royals on Sunday in Dawu.
