Multiple award-winning Highlife musician Eugene Kwame Marfo, widely known as Kuami Eugene, has once again caught the spotlight with the recent release of his latest song, “Canopy,” mere days after narrowly escaping a life-threatening car accident. This emotive track, resonating with themes of divine favor and gratitude for life, is primed to enrapture audiences on a global scale.
However, amidst the fervor surrounding the song’s debut, a storm of controversy has brewed. A video circulating on social media alleges that Kuami Eugene may have appropriated the song without proper authorization. The footage features an individual asserting that the song rightfully belongs to fellow artiste Kwame Yogot, who had intended its release.
In the video, the individual shows the alleged original version of the song, featuring contributions from both artists, with Kuami Eugene’s rendition. It’s claimed that Kuami Eugene excluded Kwame Yogot’s verse from the final version of “Canopy,” leading to accusations of theft against the celebrated musician.
All attempts to reach Kuami Eugene and Kwame Yogot to ascertain the truth have so far proven unproductive .
