Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has urged the government to demonstrate greater commitment to football development, insisting that sustained success cannot be achieved without significant investment in grassroots football, coach education and infrastructure.Okraku believes the country’s football challenges extend beyond the responsibilities of the GFA, arguing that the absence of essential facilities and development structures continues to undermine progress.Speaking before Parliaments Select Committee on Sports on Wednesday, he acknowledged the GFA’s responsibility to provide logistics, improve playing surfaces, secure stadium facilities and recruit competent technical staff.”If we are to be honest, there is a lot more that brings sustained success in football. This includes continuous investment in grassroots football, continuous investment in coach education, exposing coaches to the international market, good scouting, and good facilities (football pitches) for the kids and senior teams to play. All this we don’t have in our country,” he said. His comments come amid growing scrutiny of Ghanaian football following the struggles of the national teams and concerns about the competitiveness of the Ghana Premier League.
