Nigerian actor and comedian Ayodeji Richard Makun, popularly known as A.Y, has shared an emotional tribute following the passing of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo.
In a detailed post on Instagram, A.Y expressed deep shock and sorrow over the actor’s death, describing him as “a young man, a colleague, a brother, a talent, and someone many people only knew through the smile he gave the world.”
He revealed that he had seen the late actor’s lifeless body, adding that even in death, Alexx appeared peaceful. According to him, the actor looked like someone who had “carried pain quietly for too long and finally found rest.”
A.Y pointed out how Alexx never publicly shared his health struggles with colleagues, adding that many public figures often fight silent battles behind the glamour of fame, red carpets, and social media smiles. He further reflected on the pressures faced by celebrities, including illness, depression, loneliness, family challenges, and public scrutiny, stressing that many people suffer in silence despite appearing fine in public.
In his post, A.Y referenced other global and African figures who faced private health struggles, including actors and entertainers, to highlight the importance of kindness and empathy toward public figures and individuals in general.

In a separate earlier post, the comedian shared a video of the late actor and described his death as deeply painful, stating that he was still struggling to process the loss. He wrote that he witnessed emotional moments surrounding Alexx’s passing and described the situation as heartbreaking, adding that the actor would be remembered beyond fame, lights, and the movie industry.
