Ghana U20 head coach Maxwell Konadu says his side is fully prepared for Monday’s highly anticipated Group B opener against Nigeria at the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship in Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire.Ghana will face the defending champions at the Lyce Scientifique Stadium in a clash that renews one of West African football’s fiercest rivalries.The Black Satellites will also be aiming to avenge their 2-1 defeat to the Flying Eagles in the final of the previous edition held in Lom, Togo.Speaking ahead of the encounter, Konadu expressed confidence in his team’s preparations after a series of friendly matches.”I think we’ve prepared enough. The boys are ready. We played a couple of friendly games before coming here and I think the boys are ready for the assignment,” he said.The coach disclosed that Ghana suffered a setback after losing a key defensive midfielder to injury before departing for Cote d’Ivoire but insisted the squad has enough depth to cope with the absence.Konadu believes both teams possess equal quality despite Nigeria’s status as defending champions.”We are game ready. We pose the same threat to our Nigerian brothers. Matches between these two nations are always top-liners,” he added.Ghana will also face Burkina Faso and Togo in Group B as they seek qualification for the knockout stage and a place at the 2027 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted by Ghana.
