Defending champions Medeama SC began their Premier League title defence with a 1-1 draw against Vision FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema New Town on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Vision FC started strongly and took the lead after eight minutes. Naziru Alhassan Nyeney finished the move to put the home side ahead and give them an early advantage.
Medeama improved after the interval and levelled only two minutes into the second half. Kingsley Braye scored the equaliser, bringing the champions back into the contest.
The match was defined by the contrast between its two halves. Vision FC were the more effective team before the break, while Medeama returned with greater urgency and control. Neither side could produce a winning goal, leaving the points shared.
Medeama could not repeat last seasons 2-1 comeback victory over Vision FC at the same venue, although they secured a point from their opening league fixture of the campaign.
The champions will return to action on Wednesday, September 23, when they play Dreams FC in an outstanding Premier League match at the Tuba Astro Turf.
Vision FC have four points from their first two matches and are currently sixth in the league table. Medeama are 13th with one point from one game, with two matches in hand because of their CAF Champions League commitments.
Heart of Lions held by Swedru All Blacks
Heart of Lions difficult opening to the new Premier League season continued as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Swedru All Blacks at home on Saturday.
The Kpando-based club are still waiting for their first win after three matches. They began with a goalless draw against Aduana FC and then lost 2-1 to Asante Kotoko last weekend.
Lions were unable to use home advantage to find a breakthrough for the second time this season, as Swedru All Blacks defended firmly to earn a point on the road.
The result leaves Heart of Lions with two points from a possible nine and 12th in the standings. Their failure to score in another home match will add to their concerns as they continue to search for a first victory.
Swedru All Blacks, meanwhile, remain fifth after collecting four points from three games. The newly promoted side lost their opening match but responded with a 1-0 victory over Debibi United before securing a draw in Kpando.
The result extends Heart of Lions wait for a home league win, while Swedru All Blacks leave with a valuable away point.
