Netherlands forward Memphis Depay showed his compassionate side once again by visiting the Cape Coast School for the Deaf and Blind on Thursday.
The Atletico Madrid player was joined by popular UK-based Ghanaian barber Nicky Okyere, and together they organized a special event for the school.
They brought a team of 25 talented barbers who generously offered their services to the students and staff, providing free haircuts and stylish hair makeovers.
The school was buzzing with excitement and joy as the barbers expertly transformed the students’ appearances. Depay and Okyere also donated to the school to help support its programs.
This is not the first time Depay has used his platform to give back to Ghana. Last year, he visited the country with fellow Dutch footballer Quincy Promes and had the opportunity to meet President Nana Akufo-Addo. He also donated to a local orphanage.
Depay’s father is Ghanaian, and he has said that he feels a strong connection to the country. He has spoken about his desire to use his success to help others in Ghana, and his recent visit to the Cape Coast School for the Deaf and Blind is just one example of how he is doing that.
Depay is not the only Dutch footballer who has shown a commitment to giving back to Ghana. Last year, Georginio Wijnaldum, who now plays for Paris Saint-Germain, visited the country with Depay and Promes.
Wijnaldum’s former stepfather is Ghanaian, and he has said that he feels a strong connection to the country. He has also spoken about his desire to use his success to help others in Ghana.
The visits by Depay, Wijnaldum, and other Dutch footballers are a sign of the growing relationship between the Netherlands and Ghana.
